Foryeti mountain bikes avon those not in the know one of the new trends in mountain bikes is “+” size bikes. Simply put a Plus bike has tires that are bigger than traditional tires and smaller than fat bike tires. The wider tire has more contact with the ground at any given time, in theory making the bike easier to ride. These Plus tires are most commonly built on 27.5 rims; but, Plus tires also built for both 29-inch and 26-inch formats, providing more traction on any size wheel you ride.

Some companies are building their Plus bikes so be adaptable to regular size tires, but like anything built to do more than one thing, it rarely does either well. Yeti went all in and built the SB 5 + specifically to run the bigger tires.

On the single track the Yeti SB 5+ does feel more comfortable and stable like you should expect from plus bike. Despite what you might think when you see these bigger tires this bike was indeed very playful. Every bump and rise on the trail felt like a launch ramp and every small drop was a chance to launch this bike into the air. Give it a try as you may not expect a plus bike to ride like this one does.

We recommend renting this mountain bike for a session in the Vail bike park.
