Season:

(Closed April 16 – June 14)

Description:
Start from the Red Sandstone Trailhead and ride about 3 miles to the junction of FS 700 and FS 786. Turn right on FS 786 and ride 0.15 miles to the start of The Son of Middle Creek Trail (FS #2136). The trail begins with a slight climb before it descends into the first creek crossing. The trail then climbs from the creek and contours before heading into a second creek crossing. The trail continues through pine forest and aspen groves. After another 1.5 miles, riders come to an intersection. Here, there are two options to continue.

Option 1 (2.0 miles): The trail that continues left is more technical than option two, taking riders through rocky sections and switchbacks. As the trail descends towards Vail it travels through a large meadow and then over a bridge at Middle Creek. Turn right after the bridge and continue down to Middle Creek Trailhead. Return to the start by riding 2.9 miles on North Frontage Rd. Turn right on Red Sandstone Rd and ride 0.35 miles back to the Red Sandstone Trailhead.

Option 2 (2.0 miles): Riders who turn right will descend an easier route along a newer section of singletrack. This route has a few switchbacks and will exit on to Red Sandstone Road (FS 700). Turn left and ride about 1.0 mile back to Red Sandstone Trailhead.

Drive Interstate 70 west to Exit 163 (Edwards). Turn right on Beard Creek Rd and drive 0.35 miles to Moonridge Drive. Parking is available at the trailhead.

Description:
From the parking area (see below), start riding east on Berry Creek Rd. The road will bend north toward the Berry Creek drainage after about 0.30 miles. Continue riding uphill for another 0.75 miles to an intersection. Turn left here and climb steeply 0.40 miles to the ridge. Stay right and continue riding steadily uphill. This section will make a sweeping left turn towards the west. After about 0.80 miles, look for a faint doubletrack on the left. Turn here and ride through a grassy meadow. After 0.5 miles the descent into Endo Alley begins. Take care through this section, as the downhill can be rutted and loose. From the bottom, the route climbs back to the ridge. Turn right at the top and continue down the steep and loose doubletrack back to the trailhead and the beginning of the ride.

Season:
April 15 – December 15 How to Get There:

Drive west on Interstate 70 to Exit 147 Eagle. Go right through the roundabout and then turn left on Capitol St. Drive 0.75 miles through Eagle to an intersection at Brush Creek Rd. Continue straight through the stop sign and down the hill. Go past the Capital Hill Movie Theater and take a left onto Sylvan Lake Road. Then take the next right onto Eagle Ranch Road. Drive a short distance and look for Brush Creek Elementary on the right. Parking is available here.

Description:
Start at Brush Creek Elementary and Ride 0.5 miles on Eagle Ranch Rd to Seabry St. Jump on the bike path and ride about 250 feet to a fork. Turn right and ride the path up 0.30 miles behind some houses. Look for a doubletrack and bear right. Soon after, a singletrack will begin on the right. Turn here and pedal up through the pinion-juniper trees. After 0.40 miles this section will intersect with the Abrams Trail. The trail climbs steadily through the trees for 0.65 miles and then descends into Abrams Gulch.

Turn right and start climbing up the Abrams Creek drainage. After 1.5 miles the road goes through the trees and across the creek. From here, the doubletrack becomes steep for about 0.5 miles. As the climb tops out, turn right onto an improved dirt road (BLM 8380). Continue west for just over a mile. This section of the road passes through a gate – please leave it as you find it.

As the road crests a hill, look for a singletrack on the right. Take this trail, called Upper Scratch, and ride through the oak brush in a northeasterly direction. After 1.15 miles the trail exits onto an old doubletrack. Look for the trail to continue on the left. The World’s Greatest Trail starts here. Riders will be grinning from ear to ear after the 1.5 mile descent. At the bottom, turn right on singletrack that ducks into a gulley. After just a mile the trail will intersect with a doubletrack. Turn right and ride 0.7 miles up and over the hill. The trail will exit near Brush Creek Elementary School in Eagle Ranch. Turn left to return to the start of the ride.
